According to recent data, the population of seniors in Oregon is now larger than the population of those aged 17 and younger, marking the first time this demographic shift has occurred in the state. This is due to a combination of lower birth rates and increased life expectancy.
Join us for Bennett Vineyards tastiest event of the year on Sunday, March 16th from 12pm to 5pm in Cheshire, Oregon. Wine tasting, live music, and appetizers will delight visitors with 10% of all wine sales donated to the Lane Senior Support Coalition. I was asked to assist several local seniors that had stabilized after hospital stays and rehabilitation during November and December. It's deeply gratifying, to say the least, to find the right living situation and quality care for my clients. The ability to positively impact these individuals welfare is exactly why I got into this line of work earlier this year. The peace of mind we have been able to provide family members during the holidays is meaningful. All of the administration experts and caregivers at The Rawlin Memory Care, Churchill Estates Retirement Community, Fox Hollow Residential Care, Woodside Senior Living, Prestige Senior Living, and Timber Pointe Assisted Living have been professional and loving to my clients. I marvel at their dedication, skill and compassion when they care for our loved ones. I've noticed that some clients are suspicious of senior living communities, regardless of whether it's Memory Care, Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing. Certainly there can be legitimate reasons for skepticism given personal experiences we share and scandals in the news, let alone the delicate nature of geriatric medicine. I would just like to reiterate how dedicated, loving and skilled the vast majority of the palliative care professionals are. This is not easy work, especially for the caregivers. I appreciate that our senior communities are fairly compensated for performing this work, but I try to put myself in their shoes to understand things. For instance, the grief that the staff, residents, and families share when a senior passes away is profound. The close relationships that the staff develop with many of their residents are equally special. Most every staff member comes to work each day attempting to better their residents lives, even just a little bit. It could be a warm smile, providing timely care, solving an issue for the resident, or explaining why certain protocols are in place. It can also be simply being there to listen when a resident is living their best life or dealing with pain or loss. To put it simply, I continue to find that our local senior living communities are staffed with heroes. Let's continue to thank and recognize them for their gift of service this holiday. I am thrilled to have been able to assist my first elder into a memory care community. It was an emergency move-in due to an acute medical condition that resulted in cognitive impairment during a hospital stay. If it had not been for the support of her Power of Attorney and The Rawlin at Riverbend, my new friend may have had to be placed in a community over an hour away from her family. After visiting with my new friend it is gratifying to know she is very happy at her new home and is getting the care she needs and deserves. This is a testament to the care-givers at The Rawlin who truly love their residents and are so skilled in their personalized care.
I feel blessed to have been able to assist with this emergency placement. I knew immediately which senior living communities would be in a position to consider my clients financial means and care level. I was able to identify back-up options in case our first choices fell through. Thankfully, our final option "came through" and we were able to exceed our expectations for quality of care at The Rawlin and meet the families needs in a timely manner. Marshall White Once I set foot in Garden Way, the welcoming smiles of the residents and bustling dining room indicated that I had entered a community that is thriving. I was present for the lunch hour and got to enjoy visiting with a friend from Church and her table mates. They raved about the quality of the food and care. I was so impressed with the attentive staff and positive testimonials of the residents that I promptly signed an agreement to refer Senior Living 911 clients.
Garden Way Retirement Community offers Independent Living for Eugene-Springfield area residents. Independent living is a type of senior home that provides seniors with the comforts of home but without the cooking, cleaning, maintenance, utilities and yard care. Importantly, the staff and residents watch out for each other and will notice if anyone is absent or late, in case medical assistance is necessary. Residents may utilize a care giver to assist with activities of daily living such as assisting with medications or health check ups since Independent Living Communities are not allowed to provide medical care. Garden Way is located in close proximity to shopping and Chase Gardens Medical Center. Garden Way is an all inclusive resort style living community with several studio and one bedroom floorplans to chose from. The patio areas are full of sun and gardens which are impeccably manicured. The rooms are quiet and peaceful but the dining area is bustling with activity and happy residents busy chatting. Health and wellness activities abound for those who want to stay physically and mentally engaged. Activities like "Chair Cardio", "Bingo", and sight seeing tours are available, plus a movie theatre, fitness center, billiard table and hair salon. For those wanting to see senior homes nearby; The Esther at Riverbend is an exciting new option for Eugene-Springfield. Scheduled for opening in mid-late September of 2023, this assisted living community offers seniors top shelf amenities including studio, one and two bedroom apartments. It is located immediately adjacent to their sister-property, The Rawlin at Riverbend Memory Care, on E. Game Farm Rd.
Senior Living 911 signed an agreement to refer seniors to this community in late July. We are thrilled to recommend The Esther at Riverbend to our clients. For starters, this senior citizen home in Eugene is attracting the top nurses, med tech's and care givers to it. The building is brand new and designed to ensure optimal care for it's residents and this includes life-enriching activities and fun outings. In addition, this community is privately owned and operated by a prominent local Doctor. This is attractive to many families that want the extra oversight for their loved ones. For those that need memory care assistance, The Esther at Riverbend has a sister community next door by the name of The Rawlin. We are thrilled to announce that Prestige Senior Living West Hills has agreed to a partnership allowing Senior Living 911 to place residents at their community. The Prestige retirement home is located in beautiful Corvallis, Oregon in a quiet, rural area but still inside the city limits. The care providers at Prestige have a huge heart for their residents and show great attentiveness to their residents. It's inspiring to see a couple children regularly playing with the residents and lots of smiles playing bouncy ball. Prestige has some distinct advantages for Senior Living 911 clients. In particular, as of this writing, they provide managed care for residents needing assistance with diabetes and wounds, upon passing an assessment to verify the care need is within their capabilities. They accept Medicaid residents and allow for small pets. Senior Living 911 is proud to announce it's recent partnership with Timber Pointe Senior Living. This partnership will allow Senior Living 911 to place residents in one of the finest Assisted Living communities in the Willamette Valley. This partnership was made possible through the coordinated efforts of Scott Hanson (Community Relations Director, pictured at left) and Tammy Tucker (Executive Director). Timber Pointe is located in Springfield, Oregon and is guided by goodness, loyalty, faith, and fun. These values are born out daily as I witnessed their exceptional care of our esteemed elders. A fun fact about Timber Pointe is that they have created a culture that has allowed them to become fully staffed as of this writing. This is a huge achievement for any senior living community. Timber Pointe provides a continuity of care allowing residents to graduate from independent living to assisted living. Another fun fact, Timber Pointe offers Respite Care for those families who may need a short term stay for aging loved ones or those who may be on vacation or simply need a temporary respite from caregiving. After receiving it's license to operate in the State of Oregon, Senior Living 911 has began contacting Willamette Valley Long Term Care Communities to establish contractual relationships that meet the needs of our local seniors.
